Natural wildlife pond construction, Alton, Hampshire.

This natural pond was built in a remote part of the owner's garden.


The complete perimeter was planted with a variety of aquatic plants to create a haven for wildlife and as a place to come and relax, some distance from the owner's house.

Excavating the marginal beds.

These clay-filled marginal planting beds will eventually be submerged.

 In the foreground are Pontederia lanceolata, a non-invasive aquatic plant with blue flowers.
