Pond construction, Salisbury.

The owners of this property wanted a large wildlife pond which reflects the beautiful valley and hillside. It is a stunning addition to this large natural garden.

Because this site is technically agricultural land, planning consent for change of use was required. We prepared the drawings and recommended a planning consultant for the client. It took a few months to receive the consent and the pond was built in autumn 2018. 

In the main photograph the excavated spoil can be seen graded down to a low mound in the far left corner of the plot.

The site is marked out, turf removed and level markers put in.

The pond margins are carefully sculpted prior to the pond being made deeper in the centre.

The site slopes by 600 mm so the right side was lowered by 200 mm and the left side was raised by 400 mm in order to create a level edge.

The under liner protective matting is fitted.

Gravel planting beds are installed and the site is then turfed and seeded.
